Women Creating the Future of Peace:  IWPG Suncheon Branch Successfully Concludes  Year-End Regular Meeting

On December 15, the Suncheon Branch of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) held the “December 2025 World Women’s Peace Network Regular Meeting” at its office. Peace committee members and advisory members gathered to reflect on the peace activities carried out throughout the year and to share new visions and practical strategies for 2026.

The meeting was held under the theme of “Strengthening Exchange and Cooperation.” Following the opening ceremony and an introduction to IWPG, Branch Director Jung Jin-ah delivered her welcoming remarks. Participants then watched a video highlighting the Suncheon Branch’s activities in 2025, reflecting on peace efforts that connected the local community with the global stage.

During the presentation of the 2026 activity plan, new cooperative projects and expanded peace campaigns were introduced. Beyond sharing plans, the session became a meaningful opportunity to reflect together on how peace can be practiced within individuals and communities.

A special “Peace Keyring Making” program was also held, allowing participants to create peace-themed items with their own hands. Through this activity, participants communicated naturally and strengthened their bonds, reminding everyone that peace begins with small, everyday actions.

In addition, an appointment ceremony for newly appointed peace committee members and advisors was held, bringing fresh energy to future peace initiatives. Awards of merit were then presented to members who made significant contributions to peace throughout the year, creating an atmosphere of appreciation and encouragement.

The event concluded with a commemorative photo session. This final regular meeting of the year served as a meaningful moment to strengthen solidarity and cooperation among members, marking both the close of one year and the beginning of preparations for the next.

Branch Director Jung Jin-ah said, “This was a meaningful occasion where peace committee members and participants practiced the value of solidarity through sincere communication. In 2026, we will work more closely with the local community to create tangible changes in spreading a culture of peace.” Member Choi also shared, “I am grateful to have been part of such a meaningful gathering filled with hope and anticipation for future peace activities.”

A Glimpse into IWPG Daejeon Branch’s “Let’s Peace” Event

On the 1st, the Daejeon branch of IWPG (International Women’s Peace Group) held its “Let’s Peace” event at the Jeongnim Warehouse Bonta Café. Although it’s an annual year-end gathering, the atmosphere this year was just as heartwarming, filled with active participation.

The event was organized to support the “Peace-Loving Drawing International Contest” and to raise year-end funds for underprivileged youth in the local community.

The venue featured an exhibition of past award-winning artworks, a charity concert, youth performances, and booths offering food and daily necessities. With over 300 attendees, it became a meaningful gathering where people of all ages came together to share a culture of peace.

The funds raised through the event will be used to support the upcoming 8th Peace-Loving Drawing International Contest and underprivileged youth next year.

Kim Hwa-jeong, the head of the IWPG Daejeon branch, expressed her gratitude, saying, “It is deeply meaningful to help children and teenagers imagine and depict peace instead of conflict.”

She added a request for continued support next year so that children can freely express their imagination for peace.

A North Korean defector performance group also participated, making the event even more meaningful. They shared that they wanted to support IWPG’s peace efforts despite the divided reality of the Korean Peninsula, receiving warm applause from the audience.

IWPG is a global women’s NGO registered with UN ECOSOC and DGC, operating 115 branches across 122 countries. With the vision of achieving sustainable world peace, IWPG actively promotes women’s peace education, peace culture, and global support for the legalization of the DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War).

Thanks to the “Let’s Peace” event, it was a heartwarming reminder of the value of peace within our community. I hope even more people will join next year to spread the culture of peace further.
