IWPG Busan East Branch, Online Women’s Peace Education Program
The Busan East Branch of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) announced on the 12th that it successfully completed the 25-3-2 Women’s Peace Education program, conducted online over a two-week period.
Under the slogan ‘The first teacher in our lives is our mother — it is you, women,’ the program was designed to help women recognize themselves as key agents of peace while developing their capacity as educators. The program consisted of eight sessions, and all participants who completed the course received an official IWPG Women’s Peace Instructor Certificate.
The core message delivered throughout the course was that “peace begins with respecting and loving oneself.” The lectures explained that even small changes in one's attitude can spread like dandelion seeds, influencing society and ultimately contributing to global peace.
Participant Ha Mi-yeon shared, “I realized that peace isn’t something grand; it begins with my small actions and attitudes. I want to change myself first and spread peace to those around me.”
According to IWPG, from 2018 to this year, 6,532 women from 95 countries have participated in the Women’s Peace Education program, with 4,099 completing the course. Furthermore, 411 certified Women’s Peace Instructors have been trained globally and continue to carry the message of peace within their communities.
Jang Myeong-ok, head of the IWPG Busan East Branch, stated that the program was “not merely about delivering knowledge, but about guiding participants to think for themselves and take action. I hope this becomes an opportunity for women to realize that they can be both the foundation and the bridge for peace.”
