Teachers Unanimously said, “Peace textbooks are so perfect...
No one can refuse."

▎ Romania Overcoming the Pain of War and Seeding Peace - The Story of HWPL Peace Education
The Balkan Peninsula, long marked by the scars of war and conflict, is now witnessing the hopeful winds of peace. At the heart of this movement is Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), led by Chairman Man Hee Lee, and the Romanian citizens and educators who have joined in this meaningful journey.

▎ A Special Bond Between Romania and HWPL
The connection between Romania and HWPL runs deep. In 2019, when Romania was appointed as the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, it designated HWPL as a partner organization in its peace initiatives. Former Romanian President Emil Constantinescu, now an HWPL Advisory Council member, has played a key role in supporting Chairman Man Hee Lee’s vision for ending war and achieving global peace.

Chairman Lee visited Romania six times, drawn by the country’s deep yearning for peace after enduring many conflicts throughout its history. Romania's war-torn past has made it especially receptive to the message of peace..

▎ “Peace Begins with Education” – Peace Education Takes Root in Romania
This desire for peace has found fertile ground in education. HWPL has signed MOUs with 19 schools in Romania, training 19 peace educators to lead meaningful peace education. A turning point was the Peace Education Conference held in Bucharest in April 2019, attended by over 700 participants, including educators, politicians, religious leaders, media figures, and youth organizations. It was a meaningful occasion to share the necessity and practical measures of peace education.

Since then, many schools in Romania have adopted HWPL’s 12-lesson peace curriculum, teaching values such as respect, forgiveness, love, and reconciliation. More than a theoretical approach, this curriculum encourages a transformative mindset toward peaceful living.

▎ Teachers and Students Alike Witness ‘Positive Changes’
The impact of peace education has been clear. Teacher Oana Lusan noted, “The children showed visible changes in behavior and developed broader perspectives on historical events.” She added that her students became more actively involved in global peace initiatives.

Teacher Simona Spirescu emphasized the importance of instilling kindness and love through peace education, saying it has the power to bring about a new beginning for humanity.

The most touching insights came from the students themselves. Yoana (12 years old) shared, “Peace education had a positive influence on my life. It made me reflect on what truly matters and how I had overlooked these values.” Aaron (7 years old) added, "The peace lessons we have learned will transform us into adults who uphold traditional values, become united with our families, and stand against the confusion that could lead to war."

▎ “A Perfect Curriculum” – Enthusiastic Praise from Romanian Educators
According to HWPL representatives, there was one consistent piece of feedback from Romanian teachers: “This peace curriculum is perfect.” From structure to content and examples, it’s easy to understand and universally applicable—earning high praise as an educational tool that no one can reject.

What’s especially moving is that the teachers themselves were the first to embrace the values of peace as they prepared for these lessons. Their personal transformation inspired the same in their students.

▎ Peace Is Growing Right Beside Us.
This beautiful peace movement that began in Romania is not just a project. It’s a seed of hope for future generations and a powerful step toward a world without war. Romania, rising from the pain of its past, is now blooming with peace. The journey continues, and HWPL’s peace education remains at the heart of this growing hope.

“Peace begins not with words, but with action.” Why not plant this same seed of peace in your own school or community?

[#ManHeeLee #Peace_Story | #Peace_Education Madagascar] HWPL Peace Education Blossoms in the Hearts of Children

HWPL Peace Education Blossoms in the Hearts of Children

One of the most universal wishes shared by all people is peace. Yet even today, wars and conflicts persist around the world. Did you know that even in these turbulent times, more and more voices are rising in the name of peace?

Madagascar, the fourth-largest island in the world and home to a rich mix of ethnicities, is now the site of a special peace movement. This movement is driven by HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) and their peace education programs. Led by Chairman Man Hee Lee, HWPL is a global peace organization planting seeds of peace around the world—and the response in Madagascar has been enthusiastic.

▎ A Classroom of Peace: Special Lessons with Peace Teachers

Several schools in Madagascar—including Jules Ferry High School, Charlemagne High School, and Youth High School—have signed MOUs with HWPL and are now actively implementing peace education. Already, 26 peace teachers have been trained and are working in various regions.

Students are not just sitting through lectures—they’re experiencing peace through play and interaction. One student shared, "Through a candy-sharing game, I realized that greed is a reason why peace disappears." Even simple games are sparking changes in the thoughts and values of young minds.

▎ "Love is the Foundation of Peace" – Reflections from Peace Camp Participants

In February 2024, HWPL held a peace camp at Jean Joseph Rabearivelo High School with over 560 students participating. They created peace rules, wrote letters to Peace Messengers, and took action toward peace.

One student, Panaza Mebaniaaina Haingo, shared, “Peace is for everyone, and it begins with loving each other.” Educators noticed visible changes in the students’ attitudes after the camp, and they were deeply moved by the impact.

▎ Peace Education With Parents, Too

What’s impressive is that this education isn’t just for students. Madagascar’s Department of Civic Education held a peace program with around 420 parents participating. As both children and their parents learn about peace, a movement is growing to put peace into practice at home.

At Optifare School, they held a screening of the documentary “The Great Legacy” (which tells the story of a peace agreement in Mindanao mediated by HWPL), trained peace teachers, and even hosted a peace monument unveiling ceremony. School principals and education officials in attendance expressed strong support for HWPL’s peace education and pledged to collaborate further.

▎ The Future of Peace Begins with Education

Today, Madagascar is gaining attention not only for its beautiful landscapes and unique culture, but also as an emerging “nation of peace.” At the heart of it are the efforts of HWPL and the Malagasy people, who are nurturing the next generation with the values of peace.

Peace is not some distant ideal. It starts as a small, warm seed planted in the hearts of children. And one day, that seed will grow into a mighty tree that transforms the world.

Now may be the perfect time for us to reflect on peace once again. A country that teaches peace, children who dream of it—the story of Madagascar may also be a story for all of us.

[Korean #ManHeeLee #Peace Story │#Peace education - #Malawi] A Seed of Peace Blossoms in Malawi – The Beautiful Beginning of HWPL Peace Education

[Korean #ManHeeLee #Peace Story │#Peace education - #Malawi]
A Seed of Peace Blossoms in Malawi –
The Beautiful Beginning of HWPL Peace Education

▎“Do not delay peace—let’s begin today, right now.”
The powerful words by Korean peace advocate Man Hee Lee sparked an inspiring transformation in Malawi. Moved by this message, a school principal in Malawi immediately decided to bring peace education to his students. Isn’t that just incredible?

▎ Peace Education Begins at Zingwangwa Secondary School in Malawi
Steven Kungala, the principal of Zingwangwa Secondary School in Blantyre, Malawi, attended the 9th Annual Commemoration of the HWPL Peace Summit held in Seoul last September. There, he was deeply touched by HWPL’s peace education initiative, and especially by Man Hee Lee’s call to action: “Let’s begin peace today, without delay.”

Without hesitation, Principal Kungala decided to implement peace education at his school. Today, Zingwangwa Secondary School proudly stands as the first school in Malawi to officially carry out HWPL Peace Education.

▎ Peace Reaches Students’ Lives Through a “Peace Club”
In a country where student club culture is already vibrant, Principal Kungala took the initiative to launch the HWPL ZGSS Peace Club at his school. This club is more than just an extracurricular activity—it’s a space where students learn to reduce bullying, practice empathy, and foster mutual respect.

He said “The purpose of this club is to cultivate a spirit of love and understanding”, emphasizing the importance of students listening to others with open hearts rather than clinging rigidly to their own opinions.

As chairman of the Principals’ Association in Blantyre, Principal Kungala also plans to expand peace education to other secondary schools across the region. The ripple effect of peace, spreading across Malawi, is something we can all look forward to.

▎ Teachers Join the Journey of Peace
Ten teachers from Zingwangwa have completed the HWPL Peace Educator Training Program, and they all agree: peace is a vital education that shapes the future of young people.

Janet Pemba, one of the trained educators, shared, “If we plant peace in today’s youth, tomorrow’s world will surely embrace that same spirit.” Precious Jabu added, “Peace education helps students understand and embrace different ideologies and cultures—it’s a bridge to diversity and harmony.”

The teachers were also moved by HWPL’s broader peace efforts around the globe, which further strengthened their belief in the program’s significance.

▎ Peace Blooming in Beautiful Nature
Known as the “Land of Lakes,” Malawi is home to the stunning Lake Malawi, surrounded by diverse cultures, languages, and ethnic groups. In this beautiful and richly diverse setting, the effort to sow peace is all the more meaningful.

HWPL Peace Education in Malawi is more than a curriculum. It is becoming a real practice that changes people's lives. And this change began with the courage and passion of one principal, a group of dedicated teachers, and their students.

▎ In Closing
Our world is still plagued by war, conflict, and discrimination—but stories like this remind us that there are people planting seeds of peace every day.
From one small school in Malawi, a movement is growing—one we hope to see spread across the globe.

What kind of peace are you practicing today?

[#ManHeeLee #PeaceTour │#PeaceEducation #Malaysia] Seeds of Peace Blossoming in an Alternative School – Peace Education with HWPL

[#ManHeeLee #PeaceTour │#PeaceEducation #Malaysia] Seeds of Peace Blossoming in an Alternative School – Peace Education with HWPL

A touching wave of peace recently swept through Sabah, Malaysia. Known for its rich cultural diversity, Malaysia is a nation where various ethnicities, languages, and traditions harmoniously coexist. Yet in the state of Sabah, many stateless children still live without access to basic rights and education.

In the midst of this, a remarkable transformation began—sparked by HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) and centered around the alternative school “Stairway to Hope.”

▎ “I Want to Teach Peace” – One Person’s Passion Ignites Change

Marilu Saletar Chin, founder of the school, is a respected local figure who has lived in Sabah for over 40 years. Originally from the Philippines, she has dedicated herself to educating stateless children. When introduced to HWPL’s Peace Education, she was deeply moved and immediately expressed her desire to collaborate.

She even planned to transition the school’s moral education into full peace education. In February of last year, 16 teachers participated in an introductory session on HWPL’s 12-step Peace Curriculum. Later, 8 teachers completed a four-month online peace educator training course. With this foundation, the school launched its first offline peace camp, allowing teachers to lead students through peace-themed lessons.

▎ Children Begin to Change – The Power of Peace Education

The results were incredible. Teacher Emma Andrada recalled, “Before the training, students acted based on what they saw at home. But after the program, they became more considerate and thoughtful of their friends.”

In June, 20 sixth-grade students participated in the school’s first peace education session. The response was so positive that a larger peace camp followed in August with 18 teachers and 43 students. The camp covered themes like diversity, harmony, cooperation, gratitude, rule of law, and the principles of peace. Both teachers and students had a joyful and meaningful experience, with everyone singing the song “We Are One” together at the end.

▎ “We Are Peace Messengers Too” – Students Share Their Thoughts

Students shared heartfelt reflections on their experiences:

ㆍ Witness Chang Wen (Grade 5): “I learned so much about teamwork and strategy. I couldn’t have done it without my team. This camp was so much fun.”

ㆍ Rizmah Hiyah (Grade 9): “The roleplay was great. I learned how to be a leader—how important it is to understand and respect your team’s opinions.”

ㆍ Lovely Jean Suson (Grade 10): “The most important lesson was that a good leader listens to and values the voices of others.”

ㆍ Ben Deril Peningbatan (Grade 9): “The world may not be as peaceful as we hope, but that’s why peace education is so meaningful. I learned a lot about harmony and cooperation. I hope more students can experience what we did and help build a better future.”

Students have learned that peace is not an abstract ideal, but can be realized in their daily lives.

▎ HWPL: Shaping the Future of Peace in Malaysia

So far, six schools in Malaysia—including one kindergarten and five public schools—have signed MOUs with HWPL to implement peace education. And more are expressing interest.

Principal Marilu expressed her gratitude for HWPL’s support, saying, “This was the best peace camp I’ve ever seen.” She emphasized that peace education is a great platform for students to learn and share peace with others.

Peace isn’t far away. The moment we begin to learn about peace, we are already standing at its starting point. The small but powerful shift taking place in Sabah is spreading across Malaysia—and perhaps, eventually, the world. HWPL’s journey continues until every child can grow up with peace in their heart and hope for the future.

[9th Anniversary of DPCW] Key Provisions for the Peaceful Unification of the Korean Peninsula

April 01, 2025 0 Comments

[9th Anniversary of DPCW] Key Provisions
for the Peaceful Unification of the Korean Peninsula

▎  Can International Law Achieve Peace on the Korean Peninsula?

In a world where wars and conflicts persist, peace remains a goal longed for by many. The Korean Peninsula has been divided for 80 years, experiencing repeated tensions and conflicts. While the people of South Korea yearn for unification, the complexities of international politics and national interests make achieving peace and unification on the peninsula a challenging task.

In this context, a peaceful approach through international law is becoming increasingly important. To achieve unification without military conflict, global support and cooperation are essential. The Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) has gained attention as a key international legal framework that can advance the Korean Peninsula peace process.

▎ What is the DPCW?

The DPCW is an international legislation drafted by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) in collaboration with legal experts worldwide. Consisting of 10 articles and 38 clauses, this declaration establishes legal and institutional mechanisms to end wars and achieve sustainable peace.

The DPCW aims to fundamentally resolve the causes of war through provisions such as:

ㆍ Prohibition of the use of force

ㆍ Guarantee of self-determination

ㆍ Prevention of religious and cultural conflicts

Among these, Article 5 (Self-Determination), Article 6 (Dispute Settlement), and Article 7 (Self-Defense) are particularly relevant to resolving the Korean Peninsula issue and serve as a legal foundation for an international approach.

▎ Key DPCW Provisions for the Peaceful Unification of the Korean Peninsula

1. Guarantee of Self-Determination (DPCW Article 5)

One of the most crucial factors in Korean unification is the right to self-determination—the right of a people to determine their own political future without external interference.

DPCW Article 5 provides a legal basis to minimize foreign intervention and allow South and North Korea to cooperatively achieve unification through peaceful means. This provision also prevents powerful nations from exploiting the Korean issue for diplomatic leverage, ensuring that the unification process remains in the hands of Koreans themselves.

Currently, the Korean Peninsula is heavily influenced by the interests of major powers such as the United States, China, Russia, and Japan. If the DPCW is established as international law, South and North Korea will have greater independence in their unification efforts, reducing the impact of external political pressures.

2. Prevention of War Through Dispute Settlement (DPCW Article 6)

The Korean Peninsula remains one of the world's most volatile regions, with ongoing military tensions since the Korean War. Issues such as North Korea's nuclear development, military provocations, and joint military exercises between South Korea and the U.S. continue to threaten stability.

DPCW Article 6 emphasizes resolving conflicts through legal and diplomatic measures rather than military force. If this provision is recognized as international law, even in times of rising tensions, disputes can be settled peacefully through established legal frameworks rather than resorting to armed conflict.

This provides an institutional framework for resolving conflicts with North Korea peacefully, significantly reducing the possibility of war.

3. Protection of Self-Defense (DPCW Article 7)

One of the biggest security concerns on the Korean Peninsula is North Korea’s nuclear weapons program and military provocations. In response, South Korea has strengthened its defenses through the ROK-U.S. alliance, while North Korea continues to enhance its military capabilities, leading to prolonged tensions.

DPCW Article 7 acknowledges the right to self-defense while also preventing its misuse. This provision can serve as an international standard to deter aggression from North Korea while ensuring that military actions remain proportionate. Moreover, it helps mitigate excessive military buildup and promotes a de-escalation of tensions on the peninsula.

▎ DPCW: A New Path to Peace on the Korean Peninsula

The Korean Peninsula issue is not just a regional conflict but a significant global peace concern. However, the existing international legal framework has limitations in fully guaranteeing peace in the region.

In this regard, the DPCW presents a strong legal foundation that can make a tangible contribution to the peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula. If the DPCW is recognized as international law, South and North Korea will be better positioned to build a peaceful future based on their own initiatives, supported by international consensus and cooperation.

▎ Our Role in Achieving Peace

► Expanding global support for the DPCW as an international legal framework

► Encouraging civic participation in peace movements

► Strengthening international cooperation for Korean Peninsula peace

As we mark the 9th anniversary of the DPCW, now is the time to take concrete action toward genuine peace and unification on the Korean Peninsula.
