IPYG & Companion Campaign Conduct Historical Tour
at Gando Cultural Experience Village

A special event was held to revisit history and strengthen correct awareness.

On September 12, the “Gando Village Field Trip Program”, organized by IPYG (International Peace Youth Group) and the Companion Campaign, took place at the Korea Territory Hall in the Gando Cultural Experience Village, Dongducheon, Gyeonggi Province.

The purpose of the event was to reaffirm Gando as Korean territory, to raise awareness of historical responsibility, and to explore the possibilities for peace on the Korean Peninsula. The event was joined not only by youth but also by representatives from various organizations, adding to its significance.

In the opening address, Lee Juhan, Team Leader of IPYG Global 01 Branch, said, “Gando may feel unfamiliar to some, but many have forgotten that it is originally our land. We want to share this precious knowledge and heritage with future generations.” He also expressed hope that this event would go beyond a simple experience and contribute, directly or indirectly, to peace and free exchange on the Korean Peninsula.

Hong Ran-hee, Head of the Companion Campaign for Southern Gyeonggi and Seoul, stressed, “Gando was unfairly taken away through the 1909 Gando Agreement between Qing and Japan. We must reflect on the meaning of ‘restoration’ and regain correct historical understanding.” She added that this should not be the end, but rather the beginning of continued efforts to reflect on history and peace together.

The main lecture on Gando was delivered by Director Yuk Nak-hyun. He emphasized, “Gando is not just land; it is a historical legacy we must reclaim,” presenting detailed historical evidence from Joseon-era administrative records to the illegitimacy of the Gando Agreement. In particular, he pointed out, “The 1909 Agreement is legally null and void under international law, and the Gando region currently occupied by China is land that was illegally taken.”

Participants, including young people and citizens, carefully viewed the exhibition materials and attentively listened to the lecture, leaving with a deep impression. Many remarked that the event helped them recognize more clearly the illegitimacy of the Gando Agreement and the necessity of restoring sovereignty.

With this field trip as a starting point, IPYG and the Companion Campaign plan to continue various programs that promote correct historical understanding and the practice of peace together with the people.

Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL, Chairman Man Hee Lee) successfully held the “9th Anniversary of the September 18th Peace Summit” from August 18 to 21. The event, hosted at the Grand Hyatt Incheon and other venues, welcomed over 1,800 participants from 121 countries, including the U.S., the Philippines, South Africa, Pakistan, Thailand, Romania, and India. Notably, representatives from Ukraine, currently in conflict with Russia, also joined, adding greater significance to the gathering. The anniversary became a crucial platform for discussions on institutionalizing peace.

During the event, concrete strategies were discussed for the establishment of a legally binding international peace law. At the “Global Peace Leaders Conference” on August 18, the Philippines was highlighted as a successful case of institutionalizing peace. The Bangsamoro region in the southern Philippines had suffered from conflict for over 40 years, but through Chairman Man Hee Lee’s mediation, a comprehensive agreement was reached between the government and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, ending the dispute. In line with this, Philippine officials agreed to advance activities calling for the implementation of the DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War).

At the International Youth Peace Conference, young people from more than 50 countries agreed to promote peace advocacy activities over the next year. On August 19, the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) held a session focusing on topics such as ▲empowering women as key actors in peacebuilding, ▲creating a culture where peace becomes part of daily life, and ▲ensuring the sustainability of peace through institutional measures.

HWPL also placed great emphasis on its Peace Education initiative during the anniversary. Throughout the event, it signed MOUs and MOAs with over 140 organizations, including five national Ministries of Education and five UNESCO National Commissions. A key agenda was the need to provide peace education opportunities to marginalized communities, leading HWPL to propose ICT support projects in cooperation with relevant countries and organizations. These efforts aim to foster a future generation that embodies the spirit of peace as global citizens.

Additionally, the “World Religious Peace Academy” was launched during the ceremony, bringing together leaders from Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Islam, and Christianity across five sessions. Participants studied each other’s scriptures with open hearts, fostering understanding and harmony. To date, HWPL has established 282 religious alliance offices in 131 countries, with plans for further expansion following this anniversary. These initiatives represent a significant turning point in overcoming religious conflicts and advancing toward peace.

HWPL has consistently proposed multi-dimensional strategies in cooperation with governments, international organizations, and civil society to pursue sustainable peace. The 9th Anniversary of the September 18th Peace Summit served as both a reflection of past achievements and a roadmap for the future. Class 25-2-2 Graduation Ceremony

On August 30, the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global 1st Branch held the graduation ceremony of the “Women’s Peace Education Basic Course” Class 25-2-2 in Nigeria through an online platform. A total of 30 participants successfully completed the program, taking an important step toward peace. The program began with an orientation on June 21 and continued for eight sessions. Two teams—Kids and Teens Resource Center and the Margaret Team—participated, with Chikodili Deborah Ekweozoh, the Washington D.C. branch director, leading as instructor.

In her congratulatory address, Global Director Yeon Gyeong Kang praised the dedication and commitment of the graduates. She stated, “With this graduation, you have taken your first precious step toward peace,” expressing hope for continued cooperation through the Peace Committee. She also emphasized that peace activities should extend beyond individual growth to societal transformation. This moment symbolized not merely the completion of a course but the establishment of a foundation for sustainable peace.

Participants also shared their reflections during the ceremony. Executive Director Bamigboye Folashade mentioned that she realized how peace expands from the individual to families and society. She pledged to apply the knowledge and skills gained in the training to ensure that the next generation becomes agents of peace. Likewise, Omgbu Odiri Obukowho Margaret, leader of the Margaret Team, emphasized that peace is a state where dialogue, respect, and harmony coexist.

The graduation also highlighted the instructor training program. This initiative provides opportunities for participants to teach in other countries through a global lecture platform. It also expands networking with international instructors and offers chances to participate in official IWPG events. The Global 1st Branch announced its plan to strengthen the teaching capacity of Nigerian graduates and proceed with the third round of peace education.

Meanwhile, IWPG is an international NGO registered with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Department of Global Communications (DGC). It carries out various educational and cooperative projects to realize sustainable peace through women’s solidarity worldwide. In August, the Suncheon branch of IWPG held its regular monthly meeting under the theme, “My Change, the Beginning of Peace.” Members had the opportunity to reflect on the value of peace and learn practical self-care methods that can be applied in daily life.

The meeting began with an introduction to IWPG and a screening of the branch’s first-half activities. Following a welcoming speech by the branch leader, a special lecture was held with beauty medical expert, Mi-sun Kim, focusing on the connection between self-care and a peaceful life. Participants resonated deeply with the idea that self-care goes beyond appearance—it nurtures inner health, confidence, and a peaceful way of living.

During the event, new peace instructors were officially commissioned. These instructors will lead local initiatives and educational programs focused on women’s peace activities.

Branch Leader Jin-ah Jung commented, “This meeting provided a meaningful opportunity for members to cultivate both health and peace through lectures and practical self-care guidance. We will continue to support women in growing as key agents of peace.”

The Suncheon branch also encouraged members to participate in the upcoming 2025 International Women’s Peace Conference on September 19. This global conference brings women together to advocate for the international legal recognition of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) and to promote a culture of peace worldwide.

▎ IWPG Gyeyang Branch Signs Peace Agreement with Local Organizations

On July 30, the Incheon Gyeyang Branch of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), led by Branch Director Kang So-young, signed a peace memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Best Shield Co., the Vietnamese Community Association in Incheon, and the International Gamaseot Federation Incheon Branch. The agreement was established as a platform for cooperation to spread a culture of peace and bring tangible benefits to the local community.

▎ A Special Signing Ceremony with Citizens

The signing ceremony was held during a one-day tea café event called “Harmony Sharing Café.” It drew attention by blending with a citizen-participation peace program. This combination of organizational cooperation and voluntary public involvement created a meaningful opportunity to put peace into practice.

▎ Voices of Citizens for Peace

At the event, citizens took part in a campaign titled “Join Us in Peace” by writing messages and signing cards. Messages such as “With the heart of a mother, we stop wars and safeguard peace” and “Your small participation today can change the future of humanity” came together, amplifying the meaning of peace.

Branch Director Kang So-young of IWPG Gyeyang noted that the agreement was especially meaningful because it combined the intentions of multiple organizations with active citizen participation. Representatives from the partner organizations also shared that holding the ceremony in an open, citizen-centered space was deeply moving. Going forward, the four institutions plan to carry out joint campaigns and cooperative programs to further promote a culture of peace.

HWPL Captivates Philippine State Media with Mindanao Peace Agreement

HWPL’s peace activities leave an impression too powerful to ignore. In particular, their work in Mindanao—a region in the Philippines devastated by over 40 years of conflict—deeply resonated with local journalists. On January 25, 2014, a dramatic civilian-led peace agreement was signed, ending decades of bloodshed that had claimed 120,000 lives and displaced 2 million people. Though not a government treaty, the agreement represented a powerful, grassroots step toward reconciliation and coexistence.

Over the following years, Mindanao saw a gradual but steady return to peace. Philippine media, witnessing this transformation firsthand, began closely following HWPL’s initiatives. The state-run broadcaster PTV conducted more than 10 live interviews with Chairman Man Hee Lee, highlighting his consistent efforts. Numerous outlets reported directly from the field, documenting the ongoing peace process.

On May 22, 2015, CNN Philippines aired a feature on Chairman Lee’s peace initiatives, highlighting HWPL’s growing influence. Then, on January 25, 2018, the nation’s largest media conglomerate ABS-CBN invited Chairman Lee and his peace delegation for a televised interview on ANC News. That day held special significance: major outlets including CNN, PTV, and ABS-CBN came together to witness the appointment of media professionals as HWPL Peace Ambassadors—a symbolic gesture of commitment to peace journalism.

The Philippine press has evolved from mere reporters to responsible partners in peacebuilding. HWPL’s Mindanao peace agreement became a turning point, showing the media’s power to influence society positively. Through their coverage, more people became aware of the possibility—and reality—of lasting peace. This legacy of peace continues to be written, one story at a time.

Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL’s “Answer to Peace” goes beyond a simple slogan—it serves as a catalyst for spreading a culture of peace globally. News outlets around the world have actively reported on HWPL’s peace initiatives, positioning themselves as partners in the journey toward peace.

Romania’s state broadcaster, Antena 3TV, has taken a leading role in promoting peace journalism through its cooperation with HWPL. In 2019, the network conducted a direct interview with Chairman Lee and the HWPL peace delegation, shedding light on the sincerity and significance of their peace movement. As the top-rated broadcaster in Romania, Antena 3TV has continued a variety of cooperative efforts with HWPL since signing an MOU.

HWPL promotes peace journalism by signing MOUs with media organizations around the world. These agreements go beyond news coverage—they are part of the “Peace Initiative (PI),” which seeks to deliver peace messages and explore real solutions in conflict zones. Notably, this initiative began as a suggestion from journalists who attended the 3rd Annual Commemoration of the September 18th Peace Summit in 2017, adding deeper significance.

Countries in Central and South America—such as Nicaragua, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico—have shown great interest in HWPL’s peace initiatives. Given the high demand for peace in these regions, media outlets have focused their coverage on Chairman Lee and HWPL’s efforts. In El Salvador, the Megavision Group aired a special live broadcast for HWPL, while TV21 and MN19 conducted in-depth interviews with Chairman Lee.

In February 2019, a special press conference was held at the New South Wales Parliament House in Sydney, Australia. Broadcasting stations from 16 Pacific Island nations participated, expressing their interest in peace and willingness to cooperate. The Wave of HWPL Peace Blossoming In Zambia, Kenya and Malaysia

Following the successful launch of HWPL peace education in Zambia earlier this year, the initiative has now reached a new milestone in institutionalization. A regional MOU signing ceremony was recently held at Lusaka Girls Secondary School, where 11 schools from the central region pledged to implement peace education. This MOU follows the Zambian government’s April announcement to integrate peace education into its national curriculum. School principals and education officials gathered to witness the moment, along with a presentation on HWPL's peace education curriculum.

The regional education leader from Lusaka Central emphasized, “Peace begins in the classroom,” highlighting the crucial role of schools. Principals not only signed the MOU but also publicly pledged their commitment, as HWPL Zambia vowed continuous support. Today, HWPL’s peace education is being implemented in 852 schools across 102 countries, with more than 2,700 instructors worldwide. The program emphasizes helping students learn and practice values of harmony, coexistence, and peaceful conflict resolution.

On June 15, Dagoretti High School in Kenya hosted the 12th Anniversary of the Declaration of World Peace. It brought together students, citizens, and educators in a heartfelt celebration of peace and unity. The school band performed stirring music, and a speech by a Peace Club leader left a powerful impression on attendees. The highlight of the day was planting 150 trees, symbolizing seeds of peace and hope for the future.

As the event concluded, attendees shared laughter and joyful moments during a lighthearted cultural session. The group photo that wrapped up the event captured not just faces, but a spirit of solidarity and commitment to peace. An HWPL representative called the event “a festival of hope and solidarity,” stating that peace begins with simple, intentional actions. Just like planting a single tree, they stressed that consistent small efforts can change the world.

On May 30 in Kuching, Malaysia, peace took the form of environmental action through a coastal cleanup. The event marked World Environment Day and World Oceans Day, with around 20 youth volunteers taking part. They worked together to collect plastic waste and other debris to help restore the beach’s natural beauty. The HWPL Malaysia branch leader remarked, “Protecting the environment is part of building a peaceful society.”

That same day, a Peace Walk co-hosted by ICATS University saw over 200 citizens walking together through the streets of Kuching. Participants included youth leaders, politicians, educators, and everyday citizens. Malaysian MP Dato Lo Khere Chiang said, “Peace is a bridge to unity, and individual involvement is what strengthens it.” He emphasized that global peace starts with daily communication, urging everyone to do their part.

Through Interfaith Dialogue and Refugee Solidarity

More than 400 citizens gathered at the town square of Itaosy, Madagascar, for a touching event that transcended religion and culture. Jointly hosted by HWPL and UMMI Madagascar, the "Interfaith Peace Gathering" was especially meaningful as it coincided with the nation’s 65th Independence Day celebrations.

Under the theme “Unity in Diversity,” the event brought together people of different faiths—Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, and even non-religious participants—reaffirming the values of peace and tolerance.

Jamal Sheikh, representing UMMI, shared that "Islam emphasizes solidarity and love among all creations of God," adding, “This event fully aligns with our core beliefs.”

Alongside speeches by religious leaders, the event featured traditional Malagasy music, dance, and storytelling performances. An MOU signing ceremony followed, symbolizing ongoing cooperation between peace-related organizations.

Meanwhile, HWPL’s Germany branch commemorated World Refugee Day by partnering with the Migrant Support Netzwerk e.V. in Frankfurt. Volunteers cleaned and refurbished the group’s space, embodying practical solidarity with refugees and migrants.

Aoun, a refugee from Myanmar who joined the volunteer activity, shared, “I was happy to help other refugees like myself,” showing that refugees themselves can be key agents of solidarity.

The HWPL Germany branch regularly engages in clean-up projects and community service, sending messages of peace and offering hope to those who have lost their homes.

In San Francisco, HWPL and the Fresno Cambodian Buddhist Association co-hosted an interfaith and cultural exchange event in honor of one of Buddhism’s most sacred holidays, Maha Visakha Puja.

Participants reflected on Buddhist teachings and peace values, engaging in dialogue under the theme “Peace Through Scripture.” Several Buddhist leaders expressed interest in joining HWPL-led interfaith initiatives.

The HWPL San Francisco branch noted, “This event reminded us of the importance of understanding and unity across religions and cultures,” and pledged to strengthen collaboration with diverse communities.

▎‘Peace My City’ Campaign in Bonteheuwel, South Africa

Gun violence is a serious issue in South Africa, claiming thousands of lives annually. Bonteheuwel, a community shaped by forced relocations during apartheid, still suffers from illegal firearms and crime. In response, HWPL and the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) launched the “Peace My City – Creating Gun-Free Zones” campaign to promote citizen-led peace initiatives.

On May 24, HWPL, IPYG, and the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) organized a cleanup campaign in Bonteheuwel, Cape Town. This meaningful event also celebrated the 12th anniversary of the HWPL Declaration of World Peace. Around 90 volunteers participated, helping to clean up school surroundings and improve the local environment.

The campaign was supported by local organizations and officially partnered with city councils. This youth-led movement is seen as more than just volunteer work—it's the first step toward building a peaceful, gun-free community.

▎ Peace Culture Campaign in Western Mongolia

On May 10 and 12, HWPL hosted the "Peace Culture Campaign – Path to Peace Together" in Mongolia's remote Khovd and Bayan-Ulgii provinces. These regions face underdevelopment and isolation. Through peace education, tree planting, and donation activities, HWPL aims to foster sustainable peace and unity.

About 340 people, including high-ranking local officials and residents, participated. The campaign also featured a donation event, providing gifts and support to around 100 children from low-income families.

Notably, the provincial governments of Khovd and Bayan-Ulgii issued official statements supporting HWPL’s Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) and pledged continued cooperation. This marks a significant commitment to peace at a governmental level.

▎ Collaboration with South Sudan Youth and IPYG

The South Sudan National Youth Union (SSNYU) signed an MOU with IPYG to implement various joint peace projects. Representing 72% of South Sudan’s population, SSNYU actively participates in both domestic and international youth events and campaigns.

SSNYU plans to expand cooperation with IPYG through joint hosting of the HWPL Peace Summit, peace walks, and the Youth Empowerment Peace Class (YEPC). They urge youth worldwide to become proactive agents of peace.

HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) is an international peace NGO that unites the world through law, education, and volunteerism for peace. On June 27, HWPL held an online International Peace Law Academic Symposium focused on the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).

The symposium explored how legal systems and policies can support sustainable peace in conflict-prone areas, with legal experts and civil society representatives from around the world contributing to a dynamic exchange of ideas.

The DPCW, proposed by HWPL, is a legal document emphasizing the prohibition of force, conflict prevention, and the creation of a culture of peace. It has garnered support from over 170 countries worldwide.

The peace agreement in Mindanao, Philippines, was introduced as a grassroots model, with experts stressing the need to localize such models to suit their respective national contexts.

During the event, representatives from countries such as Ethiopia and Lebanon discussed how the DPCW could be institutionally applied to resolve internal conflicts.

HWPL plans to use the discussed case studies to develop region-specific peacebuilding strategies and strengthen cooperation with academia, governments, and international organizations.

In March this year, Prague, Czech Republic, hosted a Peace Education Completion Ceremony celebrating the 9th anniversary of the DPCW, as part of a global campaign to promote citizen-led peace initiatives.

Participants shared their experiences from the course titled “A Better World Starts With Me,” which focused on values such as gratitude, respect, and forgiveness.

During the event, the Czech branch of HWPL emphasized the significance of international cooperation and highlighted HWPL's global peace commemoration efforts.

HWPL also visited a social welfare center in Malaysia, engaging in volunteer activities to care for children and build strong community bonds.

This volunteer activity was carried out in collaboration with the Ti-Ratana Welfare Society, sharing emotional connection and values of peace through various programs for children.

HWPL will continue to collaborate with the African Union and other organizations to apply legal standards for peace in a localized manner and promote sustainable peace models globally.

The Story Behind the 3rd HWPL Peace Monument Installation

On June 30, 2025, a meaningful milestone for peace was marked in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. The international peace NGO HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) installed its third peace monument at the entrance of the Kalingalinga district as part of its “DPCW Zoning Project.”

This monument is not just a structure. It is a symbolic declaration that the community is a space where the values of peace are practiced, and it marks the first significant step in spreading a sustainable peace culture led by citizens.

▎ What is the DPCW?

The Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) is an international peace law initiative established by HWPL to fundamentally resolve global conflicts and wars. Comprising 10 articles and 38 clauses, it emphasizes the importance of governance of fairness and proclaims that citizens are the key actors in achieving peace.

▎ The 3rd Peace Monument – A Symbol of Hope Led by Local Youth

The installation in Kalingalinga was officially supported by the Lusaka City Council and actively led by local youth organizations such as the University of CURE UN Student Association and youth leaders from IPYG (International Peace Youth Group)’s YEPW (Youth Engagement & Peacebuilding Working Group).

Charity Siamweme, a local youth councilor, expressed her feelings at the site: “Through this monument, I felt confident that peace could be achieved in our neighborhood too.”

Andrew Muima, a YEPW member, shared: “This monument will help youth stay away from drugs and crime and become healthy contributors to the community. I hope Kalingalinga transforms and the number of socially vulnerable youths decreases.”

▎ Where Were the Previous Monuments Installed?

The first monument was installed on Lumumba Street in Lusaka. Once known for drug trafficking and crime, the area is now being recognized as a symbol of peace. Local merchants and residents welcomed the change, saying, “We finally have a starting point to think of peace.”

The second monument was installed at Lusaka Boys Secondary School, marking the beginning of peace education in the school system. Education officials, school principals, student representatives, and religious leaders attended the event, which sparked a strong reaction. Students voluntarily shared monument photos on social media with the message: “Our school supports peace.”

▎ Towards a “Crime-Free Lusaka”

HWPL aims to use this third installation as a launching point for the “Crime-Free Lusaka” project, which envisions creating 10 peace zones across the city.

This initiative goes beyond simply preventing crime. It seeks a comprehensive approach to tackle youth unemployment, gender-based violence, infectious diseases, and malnutrition from a peace-oriented perspective.

Mukubesa Nyoni, a Lusaka city councilor, commented: “I hope this project continues with more collaboration. I also expect it to help address youth delinquency, child marriage, and environmental cleanup in the area.”

▎ Beyond Peace, to a Culture of Peace

Zambia is one of the rare African nations that gained independence without armed conflict, giving it a unique identity as a peace-driven nation. This collaboration with HWPL further solidifies that identity and opens new possibilities for peace to take root in the country’s institutions and governance.

HWPL’s Zambia branch aims to eventually establish a “Ministry of Peace” and lay the legal and administrative foundation for DPCW institutionalization. The peace monument is expected to serve as a bridge between local identity and the practice of peace.

▎ The Moment of Peace

Whether in the middle of a street, on a school campus, or built by the hands of local youth, each small monument is more than a few words carved in metal. It holds the power to change lives, shape mindsets, and influence the future.

We hope this growing peace movement in Lusaka, Zambia will eventually spread across Africa—and the world.

The Possibility of Peace Through Education Draws Global Attention –
HWPL International Conference and Global Peace Initiatives

Words like conflict, division, and hatred are becoming all too familiar in today’s news. But did you know that there is a global movement striving to achieve peace through education in this turbulent era?

On June 12, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) hosted an international conference to earnestly explore this possibility. Held online under the theme “Schools as Zones of Peace: Preventing Violence and Fostering Global Citizenship,” the event was organized in collaboration with various UNESCO national delegations and educational and civil society organizations.

▎ Schools, the Starting Point of Peace – Not Conflict

HWPL Secretary-General Dalmeida stated: “A school is the first space where an individual learns to coexist.”

The recognition that schools are not merely institutions for delivering knowledge, but rather the starting point for learning peace and coexistence, is gaining momentum. True education is not just about textbooks—it’s about learning how to understand and respect others.

‘The Congo Tree,’ a youth organization from Congo, introduced a peace-building program based on mentoring and dialogue. Meanwhile, an educational coordinator from Cyprus highlighted their national policy on violence prevention and anti-racism education. Regardless of nationality or circumstance, peace education is becoming a common answer for all.

▎ Healing the Wounds of the Heart Through Education

Bullying in schools was also addressed as a key issue. A French educator introduced the ‘Tatou Kompry’ approach, which focuses on emotional expression and empathy, emphasizing the importance of emotional-centered education in restoring students’ mental health and dignity.

In addition, projects that foster solidarity among students through art and culture reminded us once again that education is not just what happens while sitting at a desk.

▎Youth Make the Peace Flow – Zambia Youth Peace Conference

Beyond education, peace-building through youth engagement also received attention. On May 25, a youth peace conference was held in Zambia, co-hosted by HWPL and the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG).

Around 200 youth leaders and members of civil society gathered to share stories under the theme “Youth Make the Peace Flow.” They shared personal experiences of choosing peace rooted in their own cultural backgrounds and took part in building actionable plans for community-based peace activities.

One youth leader shared this insight: “Volunteering is not just service—it is an investment in yourself and a path to leadership.”

▎Kazakhstan Opens a New Chapter in Peace Education

On May 31 in Aktobe, Kazakhstan, another meaningful event took place. The education support center ‘Underground’ signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with HWPL for joint implementation of peace education programs.

The enthusiastic response from Kazakhstani educational institutions demonstrated that peace education is not just theoretical but a practical model that is transforming students and local communities.

▎ Peace Grows Through Education, Not Just Declarations

To conclude the conference, HWPL emphasized the following: “Peace is not achieved through declarations alone. It must be nurtured and established through education.”

Building a truly inclusive society requires political will, professional educators, safe learning environments, and rights-based curriculums. At the core of all of these lies education that nurtures people as dignified individuals—education for peace.

▎ Peace Is Possible Through Global Solidarity

Currently, HWPL’s peace education programs are being conducted in 93 countries around the world. Youth-led peace initiatives are also thriving. There is a clear global movement that transcends nationality, culture, religion, and language, united by the common language of “peace.”

Correct the Unfortunate Realities of Society”

‘Peace’ is the most fundamental right that humanity should enjoy. However, the reality is that in many parts of the world, war, conflict, and disputes continue to deprive people of even this basic right. In this context, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL, Chairman Man Hee Lee) is drawing global attention as a civil organization delivering a message of peace across borders, religions, and races.

HWPL leads peace not merely through words but with genuine actions. Among those deeply moved by HWPL’s work are the late Simon Lokodo, Chair of the Uganda Human Rights Commission, and Albanian journalist and editor Alter Nura. Through their interviews, we gain insight into their personal journeys toward peace and the reasons they chose to join HWPL.

▎ “A Natural Practice for Human Rights and Peace” – Late Chair Simon Lokodo

Simon Lokodo served as a Member of Parliament and as Minister of Ethics and Integrity in Uganda, and finally as Chair of the Uganda Human Rights Commission, dedicating his life to human rights and peace.

“Our Commission’s goal is to respect human beings and establish justice and order. Humans must be the highest priority in life, and power belongs to the people.”

He shared that after visiting Korea, he was deeply impressed by HWPL’s activities, and even introduced HWPL’s initiatives and the Korean Peninsula Peace and Unification Support Letter to the President of Uganda.

“I was amazed by HWPL’s mission and purpose. Their philosophy of respecting everyone—regardless of skin color, religion, language, or political stance—and pursuing peace is truly ideal.”

He stated that his involvement with HWPL did not bring material gains, but gave him psychological, social, and spiritual fulfillment. The inspiration he felt at the HWPL Peace Summit remains an unforgettable experience.

▎ “HWPL, the True Family I Was Looking For” – Editor Alter Nura

Editor Alter Nura is a veteran journalist working across Albania and Italy. He came across HWPL’s peace activities by chance and later visited Seoul to report on the Peace Summit firsthand.

“Some people claim that HWPL is a religious group. But I say, if we can do good using the power of religion, then why not?”

He emphasized that HWPL is not a religious organization but a community that practices the philosophy of peace.

“HWPL is a group that carries out, on a global scale, what I do on a micro-level as a journalist. Being with them gives me greater hope and positive energy.”

Since then, he has continued to report on HWPL's activities through the website (Perqasje.com), fulfilling his mission as a journalist committed to spreading peace.

▎ A Great Change Begins with Small Actions

What the two individuals have in common is one thing—practicing peace. One as a politician and the other as a journalist, they each resonated with HWPL’s spirit and chose to act to share that message with the world.

HWPL continues its efforts today to share the value of peace, overcoming war and conflict across the globe. And more and more people are joining this journey.
