[#ManHeeLee #PeaceTour] “Impressed by HWPL’s Efforts to
Correct the Unfortunate Realities of Society”

‘Peace’ is the most fundamental right that humanity should enjoy. However, the reality is that in many parts of the world, war, conflict, and disputes continue to deprive people of even this basic right. In this context, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL, Chairman Man Hee Lee) is drawing global attention as a civil organization delivering a message of peace across borders, religions, and races.

HWPL leads peace not merely through words but with genuine actions. Among those deeply moved by HWPL’s work are the late Simon Lokodo, Chair of the Uganda Human Rights Commission, and Albanian journalist and editor Alter Nura. Through their interviews, we gain insight into their personal journeys toward peace and the reasons they chose to join HWPL.

▎ “A Natural Practice for Human Rights and Peace” – Late Chair Simon Lokodo

Simon Lokodo served as a Member of Parliament and as Minister of Ethics and Integrity in Uganda, and finally as Chair of the Uganda Human Rights Commission, dedicating his life to human rights and peace.

“Our Commission’s goal is to respect human beings and establish justice and order. Humans must be the highest priority in life, and power belongs to the people.”

He shared that after visiting Korea, he was deeply impressed by HWPL’s activities, and even introduced HWPL’s initiatives and the Korean Peninsula Peace and Unification Support Letter to the President of Uganda.

“I was amazed by HWPL’s mission and purpose. Their philosophy of respecting everyone—regardless of skin color, religion, language, or political stance—and pursuing peace is truly ideal.”

He stated that his involvement with HWPL did not bring material gains, but gave him psychological, social, and spiritual fulfillment. The inspiration he felt at the HWPL Peace Summit remains an unforgettable experience.

▎ “HWPL, the True Family I Was Looking For” – Editor Alter Nura

Editor Alter Nura is a veteran journalist working across Albania and Italy. He came across HWPL’s peace activities by chance and later visited Seoul to report on the Peace Summit firsthand.

“Some people claim that HWPL is a religious group. But I say, if we can do good using the power of religion, then why not?”

He emphasized that HWPL is not a religious organization but a community that practices the philosophy of peace.

“HWPL is a group that carries out, on a global scale, what I do on a micro-level as a journalist. Being with them gives me greater hope and positive energy.”

Since then, he has continued to report on HWPL's activities through the website (Perqasje.com), fulfilling his mission as a journalist committed to spreading peace.

▎ A Great Change Begins with Small Actions

What the two individuals have in common is one thing—practicing peace. One as a politician and the other as a journalist, they each resonated with HWPL’s spirit and chose to act to share that message with the world.

HWPL continues its efforts today to share the value of peace, overcoming war and conflict across the globe. And more and more people are joining this journey.

What kind of peace are you dreaming of right now?
Perhaps HWPL is the one to help make that dream a reality.

Education for the Future of Peace: The Story of HWPL Peace Education

Education for the Future of Peace: The Story of HWPL Peace Education

“There is no place under heaven and earth, among all things, more beautiful and suitable for life than this global village. What is the use of hoping for heaven while ruining this beautiful, heaven-like earth? Wouldn’t it be better if we ourselves made this world a good place, turning it into a heaven on earth? Now is the time to educate people with the ideology of a new era of peace. We must transcend nations, races, religions, and ideologies so that all can live together in harmony in a world of peace. To create a truly peaceful world, young people and every individual must be reborn as peace citizens with a correct understanding of peace.

Peace education should not be about simply discussing the past or focusing on limited aspects. It must be an education that allows one to feel the answer to achieving peace through the ongoing peace efforts and to become a messenger of peace who puts it into practice.” — Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL

Man Hee Lee, the chairman of HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), does not stop at merely dreaming of peace. He proposes "peace education" as a concrete means to achieve it. Today, let's explore why HWPL focuses on peace education and how it is spreading across the world.

▎What Is HWPL Peace Education?

HWPL's peace education is not simply about learning past wars or conflicts. It is a practical education that allows individuals to experience the ongoing peace movement and realize, “I must also become a messenger of peace.”

This education transcends nationalities, races, religions, and ideologies, laying the foundation for a new era of peace where all of humanity can live in unity. HWPL calls this “ideological education for a new era of peace.”

▎The Link Between DPCW and Peace Education

HWPL’s peace education is based on the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW, 10 articles and 38 clauses), proclaimed in 2016 as an international standard aiming to end all wars.

Among these, Article 10: “Spreading a Culture of Peace” is the core clause related to peace education. It stipulates that nations must recognize and cooperate with peace-seeking organizations globally and facilitate awareness-raising activities, such as providing education and research on human rights and peace, as defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 1999 UN Declaration on a Culture of Peace.

It also emphasizes education that promotes mutual understanding and respect among diverse religious and ethnic groups. This declaration goes beyond a simple campaign, providing a framework for institutionalizing peace education within public education systems.

▎Peace Education Spreading Across the Globe

As of the end of December 2023, HWPL’s Peace Education Department has signed MOUs and MOAs with 351 institutions in 53 countries worldwide, showing remarkable growth.

Asia: 15 countries, 171 institutions (Korea, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, etc.)
Africa: 18 countries, 122 institutions (Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, etc.)
Europe: 9 countries, 50 institutions (Ukraine, France, Romania, etc.)
Americas: 7 countries, 11 institutions (USA, Guatemala, Jamaica, etc.)
Middle East: 4 countries, 12 institutions (Iraq, Israel, Palestine, etc.)

In particular, HWPL is expanding a credible base for peace education by cooperating with national education ministries, higher education institutions, and national commissions for UNESCO.

Currently, peace education is being conducted at 319 schools, ranging from early childhood institutions to universities. There are also 15 government-affiliated institutions and 27 civil organizations partnered with HWPL’s Peace Education Department.

▎Peace Begins with Education

HWPL states that “Peace is not optional but essential, and it requires the participation of all citizens.” Based on this belief, peace education is seen not as an abstract ideal but as the most realistic and sustainable path toward an achievable future.

Teaching children about peace and instilling a sense of mission in youth—this is how HWPL’s peace education is actively preparing a new world in every corner of the global village.

▎In Conclusion

Peace is not far away. It begins with small actions to make our global village a better place. And the first step is peace education. HWPL’s journey of not only speaking about peace but living it through action will continue.

A new era of peace—dreamed and built together. Would you like to join this journey?

[Peace Education] Peace Advocate Man Hee Lee's Peace Practice: Peace Education Blossoming in Nepal

[Peace Education] Peace Advocate Man Hee Lee's Peace Practice:
Peace Education Blossoming in Nepal

‘Peace’ is a universal ideal longed for by all humanity. However, in reality, peace is rarely taught as a formal subject in schools. To change this, a civilian organization is planting seeds of peace around the world. That organization is Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), a non-governmental peace organization led by Chairman Man Hee Lee.

Chairman Man Hee Lee's HWPL is spreading peace through education and nurturing the younger generation to become the "protagonists of peace." In particular, in Nepal—a country with a population of 30 million—this peace education is gradually becoming more structured and is gaining significant attention.

▎ “Students Are the Stars of the Future — Teaching Peace Will Change the World”

Vice Principal Viva Kalika Mela Shrestha of Asphodel Public School in Kathmandu, Nepal, speaks about peace education as follows:

“Students are the stars of the future. If we teach them peace, they will live peaceful lives, and if everyone lives in peace, society and the nation will be peaceful. If the nation is peaceful, the whole world will become peaceful.”

Vice Principal Shrestha emphasized the importance of global citizenship to her students, encouraging them to spread the value of peace learned at school to their homes and communities.

▎ Peace Education MOUs Spreading Across Nepal

HWPL has so far signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) for peace education with 18 educational institutions in Nepal, and is working toward expanding this to 23 institutions by the end of the year.

From August to October 2023, a peace educator training program was held at Asphodel Public School, producing 14 new peace educators. This school continues to show strong enthusiasm for peace education and is preparing for another training session in the first half of this year.

HWPL is also pursuing an MOU with PABSON (Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation Nepal), one of Nepal’s largest educational associations. If this partnership is established, peace education could spread throughout the country's private and boarding schools.

▎ Peace Education Expanding in Universities

In September 2023, National Law College (NaLC) in Kathmandu renewed its peace education MOU with HWPL. With a faculty considered among the best in Nepal, the college plans to co-host a “Peace Talk Show” with HWPL as part of efforts to spread peace discourse.

In addition, many other schools—such as Nandeejunga High School, Gurukul Academy, Stepping Stone English School, and Godawari English Secondary School—are actively cooperating with HWPL in peace education.

▎ Localized Peace Education Through Textbooks and Videos

Nepal is home to more than 125 ethnic groups and a variety of religions. As such, the content of peace education must be adapted to the country’s unique history and culture.

HWPL has already produced educational videos for Lesson 1 through 5 of its peace education curriculum and is currently working on Lesson 6. These materials help students better understand the concept of peace and apply it in their daily lives.

▎ A Country in Need of Peace, and People Who Practice It

Having abolished its monarchy and transitioned to a republic, Nepal is striving to overcome its past political instability and move forward as a peaceful nation. In a country where many ethnicities and religions coexist, peace education is not just an academic pursuit, but a form of life wisdom and a means of coexistence.

▎ Paving the Way for Peace with the Next Generation

The peace initiatives of HWPL and Chairman Man Hee Lee go beyond slogans—they are leading to real changes and educational achievements.

When children learn peace and practice it, true world peace can be achieved. We hope the small waves of peace beginning in Nepal will spread to all corners of the world.

Let us all plant seeds of peace. Today’s education brings tomorrow’s peace.

[#ManHeeLee #Peace_Story│#Peace_Education - Netherlands] Educators Say “Urgent Need to Introduce HWPL’s Nature-Friendly and Mutually Respectful Peace Education”

[#ManHeeLee #Peace_Story│#Peace_Education - Netherlands]
Educators Say “Urgent Need to Introduce HWPL’s Nature-Friendly
and Mutually Respectful Peace Education”

Do you remember the history of the three envoys from the Korean Empire who visited The Hague in the Netherlands in 1907 to inform the world about Japan’s unjust treaty? Following Emperor Gojong’s command, Lee Jun, Lee Sang-seol, and Lee Wi-jong traveled a long distance to speak for peace. Today, the city they visited—The Hague—is still called the “City of Peace” and is home to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), a central institution for resolving international disputes.

More than 100 years later, a voice for peace from Korea is once again resonating in this symbolic city. The protagonist this time is HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) and its peace education.

▎ HWPL Peace Education Meets the Netherlands
The Hague is already renowned for its wide range of personality and religious education programs. However, HWPL’s peace education is moving educators by offering a curriculum focused not just on theory, but on practical application.

So far, HWPL has signed MOUs on peace education with three leading educational institutions in the Netherlands:

▪ Dialogue of The Hague (Wendy Meijer, Representative)
▪ Kid Event (Steven Dias Pires, Representative)
▪ Netherlands Peace Education Project (Jan Dirk Tuinier, Representative)

These institutions have responded positively to HWPL’s peace education, calling it “practical and essential for future generations,” and have committed to collaborate on teacher training and curriculum development.

▎ The Wind of Peace Blowing in Aruba
HWPL’s peace education is also gaining significant attention in Aruba, an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Through online workshops and briefings, educators and stakeholders have realized the importance of peace education, particularly in addressing school violence.

Nora Ilionora, a representative from Aruba, stated, “HWPL’s peace textbooks are nature-friendly and help children easily understand law and respect. This education must be implemented in Aruba.”

Stephanie Croes, principal of Edu Campus Aruba, expressed, “Peace education is urgently needed at the national and governmental levels,” and shared high hopes for future collaboration with HWPL.

▎ Educating for Peace, Enhancing Quality of Life
The Netherlands ranks among the top countries in the world for quality of life, freedom of the press, and economic freedom. Even in such an advanced nation, the importance of planting the seeds of peace for future generations is being emphasized.

HWPL is growing beyond the scope of a single organization and is becoming a key player in promoting a culture of peace internationally. The organization is accelerating efforts to cooperate with UNESCO’s National Commission in the Netherlands and local cities to provide a more systematic and effective peace education program.

▎ Peace Must Be Taught
A century ago, three Korean envoys called for peace in The Hague. Today, the same city continues to carry the torch of peace through education. HWPL’s peace education is no longer just Korea’s story—it’s a practice that the entire world is building together.

What we need now is not just words, but action for peace.
And that first step begins with learning peace.
